CLIVE CARROLL INTERVIEW
(Originally aired on February 18, 2010)
Described by Acoustic Guitar magazine as "probably the best and most original young acoustic guitar player and composer in Britain," Clive Carroll is a brilliant player with an eclectic musical palette. He scores films, does sessions in London, and is equally at home playing fingerstyle or wielding a flatpick. In the same concert, he'll perform lute tunes from the 1500s and create soundscapes with a Loop Station pedal.
Carroll got his first break when John Renbourn — the legendary British acoustic guitarist and founding member of Pentangle — took him on tour for two years and introduced him to fans of acoustic and traditional music across Europe and US. Tommy Emmanuel did the same, expanding Carroll's audience to Australia, as well as the US and UK. (YouTube videos of Emmanuel and Carroll playing together are must-see items for guitar nuts of all persuasions.)
In our exclusive interview, Carroll talks about his music and describes recording his 2010 album, Life In Colour. We'll accompany the interview segments with selections from this album.
